FORCE WIN 41-0 FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SHUT-OUT

June 9, 2007

Livonia , MI . The Chicago Force defense is on a roll, which was bad news for the Detroit Predators. With the exception of one 30 yard pass completion in the first half, the Detroit team was unable to move the chains against the stifling Force defense. Most of Detroit's possessions were three and outs, giving the Chicago offense many opportunities to attack.

And attack they did. On the first play from scrimmage, QB Angie Bandstra threw a slant pass to Linda Bache for a first down. On second down she called an audible at the line and hit TE Kimberly Marks over the middle. Marks shook off one would-be tackler and rumbled into the end zone for a 32 yard TD reception.

After a bad snap from center, LB Tricia Charbonneau picked up the resulting Detroit fumble and carried it 15 yards into the end zone to put the Force up 12-0. The third TD and final score of the first half came on a 23 yard Bandstra pass to FB Bridget Fahrner on a sideline route. Charbonneau converted on the PAT, and the half ended with the Force winning 19-0.

The second half was more of the same, as the Force was able to move the ball effectively with both their ground and passing games. The play of the offensive line was impressive, with Melanie Stinson, Keesha Brooks , Rosalyn Bennett, Dawn Pederson and Jess McPeake providing big holes for the running backs and great pass protection for the Force quarterbacks. The first TD of the 3 rd quarter came when Lori Kunc burst over the left side from 6 yards out. QB Sami Grisafe then completed a pass to TE Marks for the 2 point conversion to put Chicago ahead 27-0. At the end of the 3 rd quarter Grisafe connected with Tashaunda Shumpert down the left sideline for 75 yards and another TD. Charbonneau kicked the extra point to make it 34-0.

The Force defense dominated throughout the game. Ericka Bell-Coleman, Luella Gesky, Shelley Picha, Jess McPeake, Jennifer Dulski and Rebecca Thuestad played their usual solid game and prevented the Detroit running backs from crossing the line of scrimmage. When Detroit attempted to pass, it resulted in 3 interceptions one each by LB McPeake, LB Charbonneau and DB Shumpert.

The final score of the game occurred with a minute left when QB Sami Grisafe threw a beautiful 16 yard fade pass to Bache in the corner of the end zone. Charbonneau again converted the PAT for the final score of 41-0.

Head Coach Jim Stahl was pleased with the team effort. "We had contributions from the entire roster today."

The Force has a bye this week and then plays at home on June 23 rd against the Detroit Predators. For more information please visit www.chicagoforcefootball.com
